About Us

Our Mission
Hunger comes in many forms. Our Neighbors’ Table is committed to establishing a community that provides for the whole person with nourishing food, kindness and dignity.

Our History
Our Neighbors' Table was established in 1991 through the Amesbury Council of Churches and obtained its 501c3 status in 1997. Housed on the campus of the Main Street Congregational Church in Amesbury, Our Neighbors’ Table is an independent, private nonprofit organization governed by a local volunteer Board of Directors.

The Wednesday Meal currently offered at Our Neighbors’ Table was the first program opened to the community. The first meal, prepared and served by volunteers, hosted 8 guests. In 2009, the Wednesday night meal, still prepared and served entirely by volunteers, served over 20,000 meals; in 2010, our doors welcome an average of 160 guests per week.

As need for food assistance increased and local support grew, Our Neighbors’ Table opened its food pantry program, providing grocery staples to families and individuals. Today, we host more than 150 households each week at the Friday and Saturday pantry, and serve several hundred local residents through our USDA supplemental food program each month. In addition to our standing programs, our food pantry also provides emergency food assistance, as well as holiday meals for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

While we all envision a day when all of our neighbors have enough food and our services are no longer needed, the leadership of Our Neighbors’ Table is committed to ensuring that our doors are open as long as someone is in need. Take a look at our current Strategic Plan to see how we continue to build our infrastructure and enrich our programs for the future.

Our Leadership
Our Neighbors’ Table is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, comprised of people living and working in the communities we serve. Many Board members began as volunteers at the food pantry or Wednesday Dinner, and continue to serve in our programs today. As the leaders of our organization, they share a common interest in serving the needs of our community and ensuring that Our Neighbors’ Table is a welcoming place for all.
