Introducing the NEW Our Neighbors' Table Salisbury Market!

Beginning Thursday, June 6, the new Salisbury Market at 114 Bridge Road (Route 1) will be open to guests!
At the same time our Amesbury market will undergo renovations for 6-8 weeks and be unavailable for shopping.  By the end of the summer, we will have TWO MARKETS for guests!
Other than the location, guests will find the shopping experience in Salisbury very similar to Amesbury - the same hours, same variety of fresh food, available to the same communities.
Our free grocery store model in Amesbury was the first of its kind on the East Coast when we opened the Jardis-Taylor Center in 2016. We believe it's the best way to serve our guests because it removes the stigma of using a traditional pantry and serves our guests with dignity. 
How do we know it works? When we re-opened the Amesbury market to in-person shopping last May, we saw an immediate rise in use of our grocery program. That means more people who need food chose to turn to us for support.

What about the Amesbury Market?
We are about to make the Jardis-Taylor Center at 194 Main St. in Amesbury even better for our guests! After June 1, the market will close for 6-8 weeks for renovations and then will re-open.

Seacoast Regional Food Hub Ramping Up!

Though the Seacoast Regional Food Hub won't be fully operational until the end of the summer, ONT and its partners are already benefitting from more efficient access to their food deliveries from the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Currently organizations from seven communities across the Lower Merrimack Valley, including Newburyport, Newbury, Salisbury, Haverhill and Lawrence, are now getting their deliveries in Salisbury, rather than trucking into downtown Boston. 
This summer we hope to begin to open up the 7,000 square feet of storage and 3,000 square feet of cold storage to our partners. Once fully operational, the Seacoast Regional Food Hub will give us the added storage and distribution to transform the region's food safety net!

Save the Date: Trail to Table Walk, July 21

Our Neighbors' Table's new facility happens to be located adjacent to the Salisbury rail trail along Route 1. So it seemed only natural for us to make the most of it and hold our first-ever fundraising walk!
​The Trail to Table Walk will be held Sunday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to noon, and will feature music, family friendly activities and a summer stroll along the marsh. Watch our events page and social media for details!

Introducing the ONT Card

Part of our mission is to serve the whole person with nourishing food, kindness and dignity. 
To increase efficiency, convenience and privacy for our guests, we are now using a barcode card for them to check-in at our free grocery market. 
​While in the past many had to say and spell their name to the check-in desk, now they get their card scanned and head into the market!

Our new team members are:

• Susan Hogan, Office Operations Manager, who will oversee our office and facilities
• Bergen Daley, Development Operations Coordinator, who will support our fundraising team

Volunteer Spotlight: Coastal Connections

At ONT, our volunteers come from all walks of life and backgrounds.
​Two of those committed volunteers are Steven Roller (pictured) and Macy Sliwa from Coastal Connections, whose new site is located just steps away from the Jardis-Taylor Center.
Coastal Connections, Inc. supports people with disabilities to achieve their full potential by creating personalized programs that promote living, working, learning and playing in the community.
​"By volunteering, our individuals get to assess their interests in various settings," said Executive Director Sheila Skane. "Individuals work on developing and enhancing not only vocational skills, but personal and social skills as well. We strive to provide the best support to our individuals, so that each person can become an essential contributing member of their community through dynamic programs that create an environment of lifelong learning."
Each Tuesday, Steven and Macy visit the Amesbury Market and help with tasks like washing windows and dusting shelves. For ONT and Coastal Connections, it's a win-win.
"Inherent in our mission is the need to give back and to contribute," Skane says. We must give as much as we receive, so we try to give back to the community."

ONT Named Newburyport Non-profit of the Year!

Our Neighbors' Table was named Non-profit of the Year at the annual Newburyport Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting 23 at Newburyport City Hall.
Other nominees included C-10 Research and Education Foundation and the Merrimack Valley Watershed Council.

Vol-a-palooza party honors our volunteers

The only way ONT can serve more than 1 million meals a year is with the help of a community of volunteers. In appreciation, every year we throw them a party we call Vol-a-palooza.
​This year, we moved the event up from summer to spring and invited volunteers to join us in the future site of the ONT Salisbury Market for music and food.
We have more than 500 active volunteers who love giving back to their neighbors, and have fun doing it.
